As part of the strategy for positioning and disseminating the attractions and multi-destination product of Central America, CATA carried out a total of 97 press familiarization trips in the second half of 2016, mobilizing 54 groups of mass media representatives from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands around the isthmus. The media included: SZ Wohlfühlen and Touristik aktuell from Germany; BBC-Radio and Sunday Independent from the United Kingdom; Diario ABC, El Economista and Radio Euskadi from Spain; Lonely Planet France and France Dimanche from France; De Telegraaf and VRIJ Magazine of the Netherlands; Il Giornale and Icon Panorama of Italy.
Based on the level of audience reached by the media invited to the trips during this second half of 2016, we can infer that the beauties, and cultural historic, and patrimonial wealth of Central America have been exposed to over seventy nine million (79 million) Europeans from Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Germany.
In addition to inviting traditional mass media to visit the region, during this second half of the year CATA met with influential bloggers who use new means of digital communication in each of the target markets. This continues the line of work implemented by Central America in order to keep the region as part of the travel news in our target markets in Europe as a multi-destination of great beauty, which stands out for its natural, archaeological, and cultural wealth, as well as the warmth and receptivity of their people.
