Last October, as the executing agency of the Strengthening Integration and Promotion of Tourism in Central America project, CATA submitted its third technical and financial report to the Government of China Taiwan through the Central American Tourism Integration Secretariat (SITCA), the managing body of this project.

Informe CATA - China Taiwan

Among the actions implemented with funds from Taiwan from June 2015 to October 2016 were: training seminars and destination presentations addressed to European travel agents and wholesalers; familiarization trips of 54 wholesale agencies and 65 journalists from the six European target markets. With the contribution of Taiwan to the development of the Central America positioning strategy in Europe, campaigns were carried out to promote the multi-destination and the study of better prospects in the Spanish market.

Furthermore, with the support of the project financed by Taiwan, three caravans took place in Paris, Milan, and Amsterdam in late 2015, with participation of 14 Central American Tour Operators who had the opportunity to negotiate with 83 European wholesalers. Likewise, the workshop on strategic guidelines and multi-destination product innovation was held in Managua, which resulted in six innovative proposals.

Central America thanks the people and Government of Taiwan for their invaluable support to the region’s tourism development.
