Central America never ceases to surprise us! The new season makes a strong entrance and the region prepares for what will be some of their most famous openings. Here are the main novelties for the next months.
New and exclusive lodging options
“Blackadore Cay, A Restorative Island”, Leonardo DiCaprio’s awaited resort will open its doors very soon in 2018. It will be located in Blackadore Cay, on the marvelous coast of Belize, and will place all its efforts in conserving the island’s vegetation. In fact, half of the key’s territories will become part of a wildlife reserve and a research station for ecological studies. Its culinary offers will be organic and some of its products, for example vegetables and leafy greens used in the restaurant will be grown in its own garden. This will be the first luxury hotel built under the most rigorous certification standards for sustainable buildings, which will guarantee that DiCaprio’s hotel will not go unnoticed.
Hilton Hotels & Resorts chain will increase its presence in Guatemala thanks to its new project Hilton Guatemala City. The hotel will operate in the Vista Real complex, on the highway to El Salvador, which will be remodeled and will include new services. This lodging will highlight its colonial architecture and offer 130 rooms, luxury decoration, gardens and a 279 square meter space for events and weddings.
In October, Nicaragua will open the first hotel chain Art Collection Hotel, which will be formed by La Recolección and El Convento hotels and will mean a unique offer in the region. The complex will permanently exhibit different works of art from renowned Latin American artists and will seek to revitalize colonial urban space, within the founding area in the historical district of the Ciudad Universitaria.
The Salvadoran beach El Zonte in the department of La Libertad, will open up to four new hotels, which will let this coveted tropical zone, famous for its unequaled waves, continue to be one of the most desired destinations by surfers from all around the world. Hotel Lora Loca, a resort that will have 8 exclusive suites, Puro Surf, lodging that offers good food and services for the surfers who visit the area.
New connections
The new direct route between Costa Rica and Amsterdam will start on October 31st. The route will be covered by one of the most modern airplanes of KLM Airlines fleet and will include two weekly flights, Tuesdays and Fridays. The airplane, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, will seat 294 passengers.
Art, picturesque sceneries and history
The Panamanian Tourism Authority (ATP) recently began promoting “Panama: The Musical”, a performance that promises to become one of the landmarks of the Panamanian capital. The official premiere will be in February 2018 at the Teatro Ateneo in Ciudad del Saber. Afterwards, it will perform in Canada and at the West End From Page 2 Stage at the London Festival. The production team is formed by renowned artists, such as the playwright Robert McQueen, known as Associate Director of the MAMMA MIA musical on Broadway, who has joined the creative team with the winner of the double award Latin Grammy, Alberto Gaitán.
The small town Valle de Angeles, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, continues to attract and surprise its visitors thanks to the warmth of its neighbors and its gastronomic and cultural richness. Besides its cuisine and its exotic ‘dishes’, the theater play of the known group Candilejas stands out as well as the different art exhibitions in the Central Park. Handicrafts, bars, cafés and art galleries are in marvelous harmony with nature at Valle de Angeles, destination that continues to peak for its singularity and great cultural richness.
